This has been an absolute hit. Our son is super fast, but slight in his build so has been catching up to opposition players .. then applying the brakes. We can already see his confidence and technique improving. It will be interesting to see if we see a change on game day!

Great for practice at home for my son

Most of the tackle exercises in the coaching manuals assume a static target. Then you get to matches, the target is almost always evading the tackle, and half the kids can't figure out what to do.

Rugby is all about involving all types, but even at U9 level, the way we are taught to coach tackling ends up relying on natural skills in a match situation. That lets down both the natural kids who do their job and then see their teammates letting attackers through, and their less naturally skilled teammates, who lose confidence and motivation when they repeatedly find tackling much more difficult than in training.

Tackle rings are the best way for kids to get used to hitting a moving target in relative comfort, to develop the memory muscle to repeat it in game conditions. They're also quick to pick up and go again with the next player, to keep players busy, focused and warm. And they encourage aiming low, because the landing is much more comfortable than a high hit, and really the only way you can get a good wrap.

These tackle rings seem good quality and value. My kids were hitting them with confidence and came out of the tackles smiling, with a nice squidgy ring underneath them.
